Outside Boundary Limits (OSBL) and Utilities
Onyx engineers and designers have performed numerous OSBL projects of a wide variety on a day-to-day basis for all clients. These projects can range in size from installation of a tie-in to support a turnaround, to engineering and design of power, utilities and DCS for a process unit. Our familiarity with process units augments our ability to design OSBL facilities to meet process unit requirements.
- Hydrotreating, desulfurization and sulfur unit OSBL projects: Onyx has provided the offsites engineering and design for several clients’ mandated desulfurization projects and sulfur producing units. These projects include providing the fuel streams, steam and condensate, power distribution and DCS to support the process unit operation. Onyx has performed over 30,000 man-hours of process design, front-end engineering and detailed design of utilities systems to directly support desulfurization and sulfur processing. Optimal use of existing facilities has been an integral part of oursuccess in these revamp projects.
- Lube oil reprocessing plants: Onyx has engineered and designed the full OSBL facilities for all of the lube oil reprocessing projects we have undertaken. OSBL facilities include feedstock storage and supply, product storage and transportation, plant utilities supply (steam, cooling H2O, potable H2O), power distribution, tanker/rail car loading/unloading, and digital control systems. Optimizing the design and utilization of process generated fuel streams has been a significant attribute to our success in these grassroots and revamp projects.
- Miscellaneous tank installation projects: Due to the “everyday” nature of our engineering and design services, Onyx staff routinely provide tank installation for many clients. These projects are required for many different reasons, but all include gathering of process streams, relief systems, pumps, and tank design of varying types of sizes, roof types, and sparging. Thorough options assessment, re-use/ conversion of existing tanks and piping, and then continued design of support facilities have been components of our success in tank installation projects.
